There’s no denying the convenience that ready to use chemicals provide; unfortunately, that convenience can add up to a cost that is higher than most people realize both as actual costs of ready to use chemicals are high they take up significant space in storage. By switching to a concentrated product, you are able to bring down costs and storage space as well as consumption since ‘glug glug’ methods can be far from precise. Luckily there’s numerous chemical dispensing options on the market that can ensure that dosing of the chemicals is done safely and accurately.
The most basic option does not require a hookup to a water source or complicated installs. By equipping your gallons or pails of concentrated chemical with a hand pump you can easily control the output. However, depending on the chemical multiple ‘pumps’ may be required and human error is a reality of all situations.
To take all of the guess work out of chemical dilution your best bet is to install a chemical dispenser. These units can vary in size but all fit comfortably into a janitorial closet. Dispensing units do need to be hooked up to a water source. Our most popular chemical dispensing options are below.
The first system, the Buckeye Eco Proportioning Units, have won awards for their design and ease of use. They offer two designs, one for a full chemical lineup and a small dispenser to supplement and fit in small closets. The first option, The Buckeye Eco Pro, is a wall mounted dispenser that holds up to six different chemicals with four spray bottle fills and two mop bucket fill and a water only bucket fill. A smaller wall-mounted option, The Buckeye Eco Element, holds up to three chemicals with two spray bottle fills and one mop bucket fill. The Element is designed as a supplemental unit for larger facilities or in areas that do not have enough space to accommodate a Pro. What sets the Buckeye systems apart from the rest is that the dilution tips are housed in the bags of chemical themselves and do not require changing or maintenance within the dispenser. Each dilution tip is set to dispense at the correct ratio once the chemical is hooked up in the dispenser removing all guess work and room for error from the occasion.
The second system, Spartan’s Stainless Steel Clean on the Go® Lock & Dial, is another popular wall-mounted option. The durability of stainless steel coupled with a locking cabinet ensures staff safety coupled with extreme durability. The Clean on the Go Lock & Dial holds up to four different chemicals and dispenses four spray bottle fills and three mop bucket fills plus a clear rinse. Unlike the Buckeye Eco units the meter tips are housed within the dispenser itself and will periodically require changing to ensure the chemical is being dispensed at the right proportions. However, with the right training the changing out process if painless and the durability of the Lock & Dial keeps it a popular option.
The third system, the Clean by Peroxy® dispenser, also from Spartan operates similar to the Clean on the Go® Lock & Dial (and is also wall-mounted). The broad appeal of Green Seal Certified Clean by Peroxy® is that a single chemical can be used to tackle a vast majority cleaning projects all by using the chemical at different dilutions significantly cutting down on the number of products that needed to be ordered and stocked. Clean by Peroxy® can be used in three spray bottle applications as a glass, all purpose and heavy duty cleaner degreaser and in a mop application as both a carpet extractor and floor cleaner.
Regardless of the dispensing method chosen there is no doubt that using a chemical dispenser increases staff safety, maximizes the effectiveness of the chemicals and takes the guess work out the occasion.
